Macha’s Answers to the Real Beauty Is Questions:
1. How do you define real beauty?
To me there is nothing more beautiful then authenticity. When I witness a woman living her truth and honoring who she is, the good, the bad the ugly, I think this is the ultimate example of real beauty shining through.
2. What are some things you do to live your most deliberate life?
I meditate, pray and think lovingly daily. Most of all, I deliberately practice the art of allowing and surrendering which has been one of my biggest challenges. Resisting the urge to control is a muscle I tone daily.
3. What advice would you give to a woman struggling with her self-worth?
I would guide her to look at all the women in her family. Her mother, grandmother, aunts, sisters, etc., and make a list of the attributes she loves most in each of them. This always reminds me that my legacy is love. How can I love and admire my mom without loving myself? Another tip is to begin thanking ourselves each day for all the good we do. For example: “Thank you Macha for eating some carrots today, Thank you Macha, for breathing deeply today waiting on line for bagels instead of getting annoyed”. It is so important to thank ourselves for how we roll throughout the day. We wait for the outside world to recognize and appreciate us when we can just give it to ourselves. I know for sure that there is no one out there that can love you like you can love yourself.

4. How did you know when you were doing exactly what you were meant to do?
When I really started to clean up my negative addictive thoughts, this eliminated all the static in my mind and I was finally able to listen to my own inner guidance. I listen everyday and check in with myself regularly to make sure that my goals are aligned with my highest truth and serving other people.
5. How important do you think it is for women to support each other?
ESSENTIAL. When one woman shines her light she is giving other women permission to do the same. At Marianne Williamson’s Sister Giant Conference in L.A she told over 500 women in the audience “you see a women out there kicking ass, you go out and help her”. I’ve always felt this way; I grew up an only child so I made everyone my “Sister”.
6. When you are confronted with fear or self-doubt what helps you move through these feelings?
I reach out and call a friend; this helps me put my fears and anxiety into the light. Then I meditate. Even if its for 5 minutes I just get really still and start breathing through the pain, most of the time the tears will come ( which means that I am sitting on a bench somewhere sobbing J) and then when I am calm, I start to free write in my journal and listen to what my inner guidance wants me to learn from these feelings.

7. What’s one of the MOST important things a woman can do to connect with her most meaningful life?
MEDITATION, MEDITATION AND MEDITATION. I rejected meditation for a long time and now it is my life line. Start with 5 minutes of deep breathing. Just as we remember to charge our blackberry’s every day, meditation recharges our mind and spirit. When we are connected to our spirit we are then guided to our most meaningful life.
8. What do you think needs to happen in order for a woman to truly break open and blossom into who she was meant to be?
She needs to be willing to break open. As soon as the decision is made then she will be guided to the right, people, books, events that will support her in being who she was always meant to be. Once the transformation begins you can’t go back.
9. Is there a moment in your life you are most proud of?
It is such a cliché but giving birth to my son Max and then again with my daughter Remy. Lots of it has to do with the obvious love I felt but also because I pushed (literally J) through pain, fear and uncertainty and that always makes me feel proud!
